Finding a way with words
“Lord, we are a wordy nation”.
A famous quote from one of Wales’s foremost wordsmiths, Dylan Thomas.
That love for words and their application both in Welsh and English remains a key feature of Wales as a nation.
A Way With Words Cymru( Ar y Gair) is a new business which builds on that tradition, helping other people to put words to good use in different contexts and situations.
The Word Agency, based in Caernarfon, North-West Wales is run by Aled Gwyn Jôb, who has many years of experience in journalism, public relations and communications.
“I set up the business during the first lockdown period- not the best time perhaps, but there’s also been a sense of serendipity about it as well, in the sense that a lot of other people were also venturing out at the same time” said Aled.
A Way With Words provides all kinds of written communication to clients, ranging from e-mails, twitter posts, blogs, articles, PR materials, journalistic output etc.
“I pride myself on being able to write words which are readable, persuasive, and convincing, and which convey the exact message the client. wishes to impart’
‘ We’ve had an explosion of interest in reading digital materials over the past 18 months with so many people confined to their homes, and this is good news for a word agency such as mine’.
‘There’s definitely a renewed emphasis now on purposeful messaging on various topics on digital media as well as on more traditional media’.
Amongst the new services Aled is hoping to develop over the next few months is A Word From Wales: a news service for the Welsh diaspora in America.
‘There’s a huge interest in all things Welsh amongst this diaspora, and the news service will aim to keep people in the loop with what’s happening in Wales, politically, culturally and socially’ he said.
